How To Prevent A Heart Attack Part 3

Welcome to part 3 of the how to prevent a heart attack series.  I hope that you have been doing your homework and working to incorporate some changes into your life style, to help your health!  If you haven’t, tsk tsk, better get started! It’s your life we are talking about here!

This article will cover the final tips in your education on how to prevent a heart attack.  First of all, if you have related heart conditions, treat them already!  Take your medications, follow your doctor’s orders, and take care of your health.

Conditions like diabetes increases your risk of heart attack.  So if you have diabetes, control your blood sugar, whether it’s through diet or through exercise.  If you have medications you have to take, then don’t skip them.

High blood pressure causes heart attacks.  If you suffer from high blood pressure, then take your meds.  Also cut down salt.  Cutting down your salt intake can greatly reduce your risk of having a heart attack.

Another step in learning how to prevent a heart attack is lowering your blood cholesterol levels.  If you can’t manage it by diet and exercise alone, then you will have to take medications for that as well.  Either way, get it treated and follow doctor’s orders.

Finally, if you are a high risk candidate for a heart attack, or have already had one previously, put together an emergency action plan.  This can SAVE your life!  The first few minutes of a heart attack are the most crucial in saving lives, and you should map out an action plan with your doctor on what to do if you experience any signs or symptoms of a heart attack, and steps to take if you must wait for an ambulance.

That concludes our 3 part series on how to prevent a heart attack and save your life.  I hope that these articles have been educational and informative for you, and that you will come back often for new and updated information on the risks of heart disease.
